Hi guys,

I just updated to 10.9.3 followed by 11.2.1 on iTunes. Seeing as I was in the update mood, I also downloaded some iOS updates in iTunes and on plugging in my iPhone 5, iTunes crashed, forcing me to force quit (after giving it some time). Same for my iPad 4 and iPod Nano.

I was updating OS X from 10.9.2, but I hadn't updated iTunes for a good while - looks like I should've held onto that strategy! iPhoto is still works fine with iPhone and iPad.

I've found a couple of suggestions on the Apple Discussion Forums, but nothing that seems to fix the problem. Anyone ideas?

Thanks,
Checco

What version of iTunes did you have before the update as there have been quite a few changes over the year.
I always tell our clients to keep up to date because sooner or later you will be forced to if you want certain apps or the latest enhancements.
Try running a Permissions Repair in Disk Utility.

Did you try downloading the iTunes update again? There have been reports of a corrupted iTunes update when downloaded along with the Mavericks update. I experienced a bad download of the iTunes update and had to download it again. It seems OK now.

No idea, didn't check beforehand :(

Try running a Permissions Repair in Disk Utility.
Unfortunately didn't work!

This solved it! I'd never experienced something like this before - corrupt but seems fine. Glad to have learned something new, thank you!

Yes, it actually changed the permissions on the User folder! Glad they fixed it.
