I have a new IMac running mavericks. It didn't come with a system disc (preloaded). How can I make a boot disc for emergency use?

Since your new iMac does not have an optical drive for which you could use a disk to boot it, we'll assume you mean being able to boot from a USB flash drive.

Follow the instruction given in the previous post from moderator "Slydude".
