Desktop Alert

Hello all.
I have Version OSX 10.9.2
At regular intervals I get a drop down with various snip its of information, trouble is its never there long enough for me to read it. In Microsoft it's called a Desktop Alerts and can be altered to the length of time it stays on the screen and the density. Can the same thing be done on my Mac.

You may be referring to notifications which can be found under "Notifications" in System Preferences. These are the drop down alerts which can be seen in the upper right corner of your screen. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to set the time that they're displayed. You can choose which ones to be displayed and can completely turn them off.

You can set them to remain until clicked on. Just change it from a Banner to an Alert.

Why didn't I think of that? I have a few notifications that don't stay up long enough to know if it's something worth dealing with.

You can ALSO just click on the Notifications icon in the menu bar, whereupon the Notifications Center will slide out and you can gaze upon them for as long as you wish.
