Hi Everybody.

Hope someone can help me with this please, as I’m still relatively new to Macs …

I used to be able to log into my work email account from home by navigating to the relevant Web Outlook page in Safari and entering my username, password and PIN number. However, since installing Mavericks on my desktop machine, I now get the following error message instead:

Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Security.LiveTransientHRESULTException: LiveId authentication code has returned error 0x80049234 PP_E_RPS_REASON_POST_TICKET_TIMEWINDOW_EXPIRED, indicating that there's a temporary problem with the remote server. Please check the Application event log for detailed information and retry the operation later. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80049234): Post ticket time window expired. Ticket could be reposted. at Microsoft.Passport.RPS.Native.IRPSHttpAuth.AuthenticateRawHttp(String siteName, String httpVerb, String path, String QS, String httpVersion, Boolean bHTTPs, String httpHeaders, String httpBody, Object pAuthResultsBag) at Microsoft.Passport.RPS.RPSHttpAuth.Authenticate(String siteName, HttpRequest request, RPSPropBag propBag) at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Security.LiveIdAuthentication.Authenticate(HttpContext httpContext, String siteName, String[] memberNameIgnorePrefixes, String& puid, String& orgIdPuid, String& cid, String& membername, UInt32& issueTime, String& responseHeaders, RPSTicket& rpsTicket, Boolean& hasAcceptedAccrual, UInt32& rpsAuthState, Boolean& isConsumerIdentity) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Security.LiveIdErrorHandler.ThrowRPSException(COMException e) at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Security.LiveIdAuthentication.Authenticate(HttpContext httpContext, String siteName, String[] memberNameIgnorePrefixes, String& puid, String& orgIdPuid, String& cid, String& membername, UInt32& issueTime, String& responseHeaders, RPSTicket& rpsTicket, Boolean& hasAcceptedAccrual, UInt32& rpsAuthState, Boolean& isConsumerIdentity) at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Security.LiveIdAuthenticationModule.OnAuthenticateRequest(Object source, EventArgs e)

I raised this with the IT Support Desk at work, and they checked my access using a PC (not Mac) which doesn’t run on the network in order to simulate remote access from home - and it worked fine apparently, which I guess means the problem is at my end.

Because it used to work fine when I was using Lion OS, and because I’m now getting the same error message in Chrome and Firefox, I’m assuming this isn’t a brower issue, but something connected with my recent switch to Mavericks OS instead. Realise this might be a bit of a long shot, but can anybody suggest anything please?

Thanks,
SN.

I'd need to know the URL(s) that you are gong to and being redirected to. Understood if you don't what to provide.

Sounds like mail is hosted through Microsoft?

Hi MacsWork,

Thanks for for you reply. The URL I'm going to is below, but to be honest, I just came off the phone with Apple Support and they suggested trying to access the site on my smartphone (which is a Samsung so runs on Android rather than Mavericks) but I got the same error message, which I guess means its not a problem with the OS after all. Sorry about that.

If you've got any suggestions though, please feel free to let me know.

Best wishes,
SN.

That is an awfully convoluted URL to simply access webmail.

Have you confirmed with your IT that there isn't a more usable URL.

I'm guessing, but it looks like your ITN domain has active directory integration with the Office365 hosted exchange solution from Microsoft.

Yeah, sorry about that. The actual link is:

http://outlook.com/owa/itn.co.uk

(I just copied and pasted what appeared in the address bar - which as you say, is a lot more convoluted)!

And yes, they are using Office 365. The thing I just don't get is how it was working perfectly fine before, but the more I look into it, the more I'm convinced our IT Department must have made some internal change somewhere, which is now preventing me from accessing the Web Outlook site remotely.

Like I said before, I no longer think this is a Mavericks OS issue, given that I experience the same issue when trying to access the site from my phone (which runs on Adroid). But I totally stumped!

Thanks for your efforts though - much appreciated.

SN.
