There is a nasty Flash vulnerability that Adobe rushed out a patch for. You should update Flash immediately.

Uninstall the copy of Flash that you have installed with this uninstaller (Adobe recommends doing this first):

Then download the latest version of Flash directly from Adobe, and install it:

Done.

Note - clicking on Randy's uninstall link downloads the uninstaller - check your downloads folder - don't be surprised by the blank page that loads.

Got it. Note.... you'll now have both the Adobe Flash Installer and Uninstaller sitting in your Applications folder. In addition you should also have an Adobe Flash Icon in System Preferences. Clicking on it will show you which version you have.

One thing Randy. Flash wants to change System Preferences settings from "Notify me to Install Updates" to "Allow Adobe to Install Updates". With their record pretty dangerous!

It doesn't matter Harry. It tells you either way that it has an update to install, besides, it can't install any update without you first supplying your admin password.

Done it last night, thanks Randy.

chscag, I always had the Flash icon in System Preferences, as I remember setting Storage | Camera and Mic | Playback - all to block any site from using this facilities, long time ago (as in Snow Leopard)...

Yes it does Charlie. It changes that setting to allow Adobe to update unless you uncheck that box manually prior to running the Installer.

Gave me an excuse at work - the boss has maintained that we keep IE the default browser - it's not touched on any of the 3 computers I have control over, but it's still the default. On top of uninstalling/reinstalling flash, went around today and installed FF or Chrome on all the rest of them and told everyone not to use IE.

Nope! It put the .dmg files in my Downloads folder. That's it. Edit: Well, I discovered it put a Flash Update Manager in the Utilities folder.
... you should ... have an Adobe Flash Icon in System Preferences.
Yes, and thanks to harryb who noted that it was set to automatically update. I prefer to be notified.

Thanks for the information! Now have two more to update.

Just wondering. If flash was already installed why didn't my computer receive an update notification from adobe? It seems I get them for all there other software.

I've noticed that the only time I'll get an update notification for Flash is if I'm on a site that Flash is used and an update is available. I suppose I could click on the Flash icon in System Preferences and select "check for updates".
