Safari 7.0.3 os x10.9.2
I have a MacBook Pro. When using Safari and type the letter r, Google bar, I get a message from "Bitdefender" that it's a no go site , bring me back to safety.
Is this a trojan or malware. Any antidote?

Best regards.

I just tried it and get a bunch of sites that begin with "R". I don't know exactly what it is you're doing but "BitDefender" is an AV application for the Mac. You can learn more about here.

Just use common sense and stay away from sites that have malware. And you won't need AV software.

Malware r

Good day

Yes I have Bitdefender installed.

If I run a complete scan, it doesn't show that malware nor a correction.

I use a small r not capital.

Thanks

Must be a Bitdefender thing because I just get sites that start with an r starting with red box.

Type something more than the letter r before you press enter - it is undoubtedly attempting to go to some site you've previously visited and BitDefender which includes anti-phishing is telling you not to go to whatever site is stored in your history for the letter r.

Hello

Bitdefender won't allow me to enter anything past r

I always clear my Safari history after each use.

Is there a cache somewhere?

Regards

Uninstall Bitdefender. You don't need it--just stay away from sites you shouldn't go to anyway.

I'm with MacInWin. Did run it and had all sorts of slow down problems. Check out Activity Monitor for what it is doing.

Good day,
In Safari, preferences, privacy...
I checked: "Smart search field. Do not reload top hit in the background"

Then the alert from Bitdefender is no longer showing.

Good, but uninstall Bitdefender. As said previously, you do NOT need it and it's just a resource drain.
