You can select which part of the sheet you wish to print by selecting its page number from the print preview menu that your printer displays. That's how I do it.

OR if its a specific area in a spreadsheet that is on 1 page, select ALL the Cells you want to print then ⌘+C (copy) and ⌘+P(paste) them into a new page and print that 1 page.

If you select an area of a single sheet, isn't there an option to Print Selection in Numbers? If so, you would only get the highlighted cells, not the entire page, and you wouldn't have to copy it into another document first. I don't have Numbers here, so I can't try it. (on vacation)

Nope. Doesn't have that option. It's all pages or one page.
