There have been widespread complaints of problems with Gmail and Apple Mail since Mavericks was released. There was a patch released that fixes the problems for some people, so make sure you have Mavericks fully updated. Below is a link for your reading pleasure that reviews some of the problems and fixes. See if that helps. If not, feel free to post back.

I'm pretty sure that is the problem right there. It may be that Mail used to be able to handle volume like that, but with all the issues that it has had with Gmail in particular, that may be a sticking point they haven't gotten past yet. I would seriously look at an email client that specializes in supporting Gmail. I have no personal recommendations, but Mailplane seems to get very good reviews, and is actively supported at this time.

You send and receive 4,000-5,000 emails PER DAY??

You'll forgive me if I assume that's a typo (or you're selling viagra online!).

To get Mail or any other program working better with 78K emails, the secret is pretty simple: not all 78,000 need to be in your inbox. Move the older ones to archive files by year, for example (you can, indeed, set up Rules that will do this automatically for you). Break down the volume somewhat (let's say "personal" and "work" folders for example) and separate things out accordingly.

The email is all still there and all still searchable when you're looking for something, it's just not ALL in the inbox, which should make the inbox work a LOT better!

Hi Member,
That is not typo and we are not selling Viagra online:)... We have a recruitment process in that case too many emails exchange is acceptable. we have 40-50 GB emails data per user & after archived and deleting of last 4 yrs old emails remain our inbox at that count no 50k-80k..
However we moved on Thunderbird and seems working good more than Apple mail in syncing technology.
Thank you for you support & help! Have nice day.
