What is the best macro program for an iMac? Some I have tried work with only a few programs.

Keyboard Maestro probably is, but I don't know what you are specifically trying to do.

Have you looked at Automator? Comes with your Mac.

It would help if you can mention what you want to accomplish. We could offer more specific suggestions.

If you are talking about a "text macro" type program, there is such a thing built right into OS X these days and customizable. However management for a large number of macros is kinda awkward, so I've been using Typinator for quite some years and like it for the most part (there is an ongoing bug with Fluid, but that's the only program I've had any trouble with).
