G'day and welcome to the forums.

First question you do have a backup?

Do you mean lost from the Dock or the Application Folder? If the Dock, it is only an alias and opening the Application Folder and dragging iPhoto to the Dock will restore it. If missing from the Applications Folder have a read of this link from Apple Discussions:-

If you get everything back, suggest a weekly backup!

The computer starting running very slow a couple of weeks ago,
I opened Iphoto and it opened but just my last download showed up
I had over 30 albums.
In master pictures it shows all of the years as folders, however no albums
I am wondering if there is a way to get the albums back (where did they go)
When I tried to rebuild iphoto library, all 4 of the choices for rebuilding will not open.

Sounds like your hard drive is failing. This is why we suggest more routine backups.

Copy the entire iPhoto library to a backup drive NOW and hope that later when you've replaced/restored the failing drive that iPhoto can rebuild what was damaged. Without backups, that's your only option.

If you're using iCloud and Photo Stream, then your last 1,000 pictures are backed up in the cloud and should be recoverable from there.
