I've got an iMac from early 2008. It runs on Lion 10.7.5, and has a memory of 4Gb (2 original + 2 added) The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo, running at 2.66 Ghz.
Question is: Will it function properly on Maverick? Is it worth, actually, moving on from Lion? How about my current applications: Microsoft Office for Mac 2011? Will they work properly?
Thanks guys.

Your iMac will run Mavericks fine and so will Office. EveryMac has the following caveat about running Mavericks on your machine
This system can run the most recent version of OS X 10.9 "Mavericks," including booting in 64-bit mode. However, it does not support OpenCL nor does it support AirDrop, AirPlay Mirroring (which also requires a 2nd Gen or later Apple TV), or Power Nap.
