Hey guys,

I'd appreaciate some advice on this one.

I have a mid 2007 MacBook. When I purchased it, I specified extra RAM to be added, and so it cam with the "maximum" 2GB RAM

It's serving my needs just fine, but is a little slow and I'd like to upgrade the RAM if I can

However, from Apple's website, the maximum RAM I can put in this machine is 2GB. Does anyone know if actually I can add more than this, or is it physically impossible to put more than 2x 1GB RAM cards in the machine ?

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated,

John

Thanks for the info !

It was definitely purchased in June 2007, but the Apple website tell me that the maximum RAM it can take is 2GB...... They also state that the LATE 2007 model has a maximum of 4GB RAM. Pardon me for being stupid but are these maximums the maximums they're prepared to sell the machines with, or the maximum that the hardware can physically take ?

Thanks, John

Please see my answer above.:)

They also state that the LATE 2007 model has a maximum of 4GB RAM.

You have a "Mid-2007" MacBook. "Late 2007" MacBooks are a different model. Thus the Late 2007 MacBooks have different specifications. And FYI..."Late 2007" MacBooks actually have a max ram of 6gig.

But you do not need to concern yourself with Late-2007 MacBooks...because you don't have one.;) Unless you're just curious.:)

Only so you have some confirmation - Nick is correct - regardless of what Apple's "official" specs state.

You can put in 4 GB - it can only use 3 GB.
Putting in 4 GB will maintain it's dual channel capability.
