Make new contacts default to Exchange

When I create new contacts in Contacts they default to the "On My Mac" folder but I'd much prefer they land exclusively in my Exchange account. Ive only noticed this becoming an issue since Mavericks since (I believe) Sync Services between Office for Mac and Contacts was eliminated. My planned workaround was to simply add contacts to Exchange which is my database of record for all contacts.

Am I missing something simple here?
