Sharing Outlook Calendar across Platforms

Hi there,

We are using Macs at work and our business partner uses Windows at a remote location.

Our partner currently books our jobs into her Outlook Calendar.... going forward we need to be able to view this Calendar in real time ie. both of us need to be able to book jobs into the same calendar.

Is there any way at all that this can happen with us using different operating systems? We are more than happy to purchase Outlook for Mac, and I'm assuming we need some kind of exchange server. If so, any suggestions on a good server that wont cost the earth and/or any software that may be out there that could help?

If anyone has any kind of info on whether this would be feasible can you please advise... (also interested in any reviews/issues people may have experienced with Outlook for Mac).

A suggestion: It might be easier and less costly for both you and your business partner to use the free Google Calendar web application. You can read up on it here.

The other option is for you to purchase Outlook for the Mac which is part of the business version of Microsoft Office 2011 for the Mac. Both the Windows and Mac versions can use Microsoft Exchange Server. This might not be a good option as Mac Office 2011 will be replaced by the 2014 version later on this year. And what changes MS will make to Outlook is unknown.

Yes we would love to use Google Calendars (which we use in other areas of the business) but our partner is determined to stay with Outlook, so we gave in. Can you recommend any other exchange server?

gsyncit allows two way syncing of a google calendar from within Outlook.

That way you can all use the google calendar on the web, Android phone, iPhone, iPad etc and your Outlook stalwart can continue to use Outlook.
