Right Click Select function Stopped working partially on safari

running Safari 7.0.2 with OSX mavericks
2 day ago lost ability to highlight and cut and paste
some words work sometimes, sometimes all words
very quirky

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Go into Systems Preferences for either Trackpad/Mouse and make sure the settings are okay.

that doesn't do it: this is a logitech wireless mouse. Did apple stop supporting it?

not the mouse problem as it works FINE with chrome
I moved from Chrome to safari due to java issues with chrome

Have you got the updated drivers for the Mouse ?? Go Here and download the latest for your mouse and that might ix the problem.

If not try Repairing Disk permissions via Disk Utility and see how that goes.
