I have photo files that I uploaded to my external drive on my retina, I later decided to load those shots onto a removable drive, and finally onto my windows 8 dedicated external drive and when I tried to open any file windows did not like the file names. I noticed each file now has .; before the file name too.

So basically I think I am asking how to use and move photo files from apple and windows...

A couple of questions: 1. How did you move the files to the external drive? To the removable drive? To the windows 8 external drive?
2. is that a "." or a ".;" before each name?

I cut and pasted from project file in aperture to removable memory, then to external hard drive on the windows machine.

I believe [.;] is before each file now...

So bascially CAN you transfer photo files across these platforms?

Yes, but I don't know Aperture. Perhaps someone will chime in here who does know that product.
