Updating my Mac 5.1

I have a Mac that is seven years old. It is a Mac 5.1 .The processor is a Intel core 2 DUO with 1 GB of memory. I have order more memory. But I need to know what else do I need to do to upgrade to the operating system called Maverick.

If you have an iMac 5,1...it cannot run Mavericks (OS 10.9). In fact...not only can an iMac 5,1 not run Mavericks...it also cannot run Mountain Lion (OS 10.8). Max OS for this computer is OS 10.7.5 (Lion).
