Mac Office 2010

Hi; I have just started an ITQ course which uses Office 2010. In order to practice on my Mac I need Office Mac 2010 however I can't seem to find it. I've tried Apple UK, E Bay and Amazon? Did they not produce a 2010 version for Macs?

Office 2007 and 2010 are Windows only versions
Office 2008 and 2011 are the Mac versions.

Could be someone, but, I doubt anyone here knows what "ITQ" is.
Need to ask the instructor if you need the Windows version or if the Mac version or any other office product will suffice for your course requirements.

ITQ (Information Technology user Qualification) has replaced the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) The course is completely online thorugh Learn Direct so I don't need Office to do the course.

Its my partner that would benefit, we are currently using Office Mac 2008, which she is used to however the layout of Office 2010 is very different.

I am running Mavericks - is there a free ? version of something like Parallels for running Windows products for Mavericks as I can probably get a cheap version of Office 2010 from work.

Do you absolutely positively NEED MS Office? If not..."Open Office" for Windows is free. Check it out (first link is a review, 2nd link is the latest version download):

Its not that I need it, its just that my partner is very used to Mac Office 2008 and trying to do a course that uses Windows Office 2010 is going to throw her slightly hence my questions about getting Office 2010 on Mac?

Here is a link to a program (free Windows emulation on a Mac). If may not be as good as Parallels...but maybe it will be good enough to do what you need:

As usual Nick had some good suggestions. I hope those work particularly if budget is a concern.

Microsoft used to offer a 30 day trial of Office 2011 for Mac but that program seems to have gone by the wayside. Do you know anyone who has Office 2011 for Mac installed? Perhaps they would allow you to get enough of a look at things to see if it resolves the problem. At least that way you would know if purchasing it is worth the cost.

I think what you're looking for is VirtualBox - it's a free virtualization application. I'd try that if you have a spare Windows license as I imagine that Office may be too complex for something like Wine (you never know though).

I believe it would take her an hour at the most to get used to Office 2010. I use both Mac Office and Windows Office 2010 and other than the ribbon menu layout, both products are identical. She can even adjust the ribbon on 2010 to look like Office 2008 or Office 2011.

Office 2010 is actually more polished and easier to use once you get accustomed to it. But to each his own....

Spot on Charlie. Hardly any difference between my Office 2011 and my PC's Office 2010.
