I must be the only one with this problem. Is there a way I can erase my HD and install Snow Leopard? I tried reinstalling OS X it did not help.

Sow Leopard is a version of OS X....if your computer came with any OS X newer than Snow Leopard, you cannot install it. IF your computer originally came with Snow Leopard, yes, you can reload it.
