I have a macbook pro, specs are:

2.4 ghz intel core i7
4gb 1333 Mhz DDR3
15.4 inch hd graphics 3000 384 mb
I use this computer mainly to edit with FCP and I like the idea of a editing only computer, but at the same time I am wanting to get rid of my desktop computer which has just shat out on me. I used the desktop to game and for general purpose things.
My cousin had a macbook air which he used to game and it eventually stopped running his games, which we cannot figure out.
I worry that if I use my macbook for gaming on top of editing that it will wear on the components faster than it would if I only used it for editing.
Would it be smarter to get another computer for general purpose/ gaming use and save this mac for editing?
