Pls.help me restore my dusty old macbookpro

My old faithfull macbook pro has been under my bed for about 2 years now, I resntly bought a Vio and am returning it tomorrow. (long story)
I am told that I can give new life back to my old pal with some ram and ??
Will this be an upgrade to my operating system so as to suport every thing, or will there be limitations ?
On the west coast of Canada I am told $200.00 should do it ?
What would be needed to get it to a point to suport large photos files, 20 mega pixals or more, with a program like Asee Dsee.or even lightroom? ... Thanx

You're going to have to help a little here. There are only about 100 MacBook Pros that have been manufactured so far.

Which one is yours? Screen size, CPU, how much RAM is in it, what size drive is in it, what version of OS X are you currently running and we're "assuming" it all works...
