iTunes "update" failed (2014-01-26)

Location
Currently in MA. Previously in ME, NH and RI.
When I started iTunes today I was asked if I wanted to update. I wish I had not said "yes". The update failed and I now have a not working version of iTunes. Attempts to download the update from Apple are failing. I downloaded the setup file from FileHippo, and that version also failed to install. What gives?

ETA: I run iTunes on a Macbook, and a Windows platform. It is the Windoze platform which has the problem.

He's referring to his Windows machine not a Mac.

What you can try is open Control Panel, add or remove programs, and uninstall iTunes. Then download it again. It should download the updated version. This of course assumes there's no other problem with Windows.

Thanks for the responses. More google searches yielded suggestions that I uninstall iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Services, and Apple Update, then reinstall iTunes. That did the trick and I have m iTunes back.
