I need to know the newest version of Adobe Reader? I have ver. 10.1.9. Today I received a notification for an update for the reader. I downloaded it and installed it, or so I thought, but my Adobe Reader's version didn't change. I also noticed that Firefox has it disabled. So what is the newest version if there is one?

I recently realized that Preview does a far better job with PDFs on my iMac than Adobe Reader, with far less fuss. In fact no fuss.

Did you click on the link from the update prompt, or go to adobe.com to download? There has previously been malware posing as Adobe updates.

I did both and there is an update for 10.7 and up. There wasn't any for 10.6.8. How would I us Preview instead of Adobe Reader?

I'm assuming that Adobe Reader is now your 'default' app for PDF files; if so then just right-click a PDF file, select Preview from the 'Open With' menu choice - if you like the results, then make Preview your default reader. Dave :)

And then I fully deleted Adobe Reader from my Mac. Solved a lot of problems for me.

Before coming back to Apple last spring, I was on PCs for nearly 3 decades - really disliked Adobe Reader - bloated, slow, etc.; so for many years I used Foxit Reader - small, quick, and less problematic - Dave :)
