I just downgraded from Mavericks (10.9) to Snow Leopard (10.6.8) because I wanted to be able to use Adobe After Effects CS6 and now my Safari won't open. I installed Safari 5.1.10 from an Apple Support page and it's still not opening. I get an error message that says:

Safari cannot be opened because of a problem.

Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

I've done both and neither have worked so I'm not sure what else to do.

Someone please help.

What you could do is download the 10.6.8 Combo updater and run that.
That includes the correct version for Safari on 10.6.8.

Where did you get the impression that Adobe After Effects CS6 won't run in Mavericks?

I'm running the Adobe suite (CS3!!) on Mavericks.
