I can't paste a graph into a word document, says I don't have enough memory. I've deleted my download folder, what else can I do?

There is a difference between memory ( RAM ) and Storage ( Hard Drive space )
When you deleted your download folder, you have freed up some storage, not memory.
Your memory is consumed by applications that you have opened ( not by applications that you have in your applications folder )
To free up memory, you need to close applications.
If that does not work, you will need to add more memory ( RAM )

What OS do you have and how much memory ( RAM ) is installed in your machine.

Your hard drive is probably full of "stuff" that you can either delete or move onto an external hard drive, USB sticks, or CD's/DVD's.

You're job is to figure out what:

- needs to stay on your internal HD
- what can be permanently deleted
- and what can be moved onto some sort of external storage

I use a small app which sits in the task bar called 'Memory Clean' by FIPLAB to free up RAM on my iMac.
....
Its FREE too.

Probably because it's redundant to the OS, which does this on-the-fly. It does give you a nice little status in your Menubar though... of course, iStat Menus gives you that and a whole lot more.

Make sure all applications are properly closed (i.e. no little blue indicator under their icons on the dock) then restart your Mac and try the copy and paste again.
