I am having an on-going problem with a newsletter I am writing using Pages 09 on an imac running 10.6.8. This newsletter contains text and pictures, and is four pages long. When I update it for the new month's issue, I start with the current issue, delete old text and pictures , and insert new text and pictures. This works fine most of the time, but sometimes when I delete a picture on, say, page 2, the last page, page 4, and its contents disappear, and I am left with only pgs 1,2,and 3. If at that time, I do a "Edit / Undo" the fourth page mysteriously reappears with all content intact. Can anyone explain what's happening, and what to do to avoid this problem?
Thanks,
Kevin

I'm not sure if that's an obscure bug in the program, but you might want to create your newsletter first with basic formatting, setup, page numbers, etc, and save it as a template. Then instead of starting out with last month's edition, open the template and fill in info as required. That should take care of the disappearing fourth page.

I can explain what is happening. When you select text and delete, are not deleting all the text, just that you have selected. Your old text is "flowed" to text boxes on each page, so when you select some text and delete it, the old text on the other pages is still there -- only now there is less of it, so the pages reflow and you have fewer pages.

To fix this, get in the habit of using "command-a" to select ALL the text and delete (will cause all pages to disappear) or select your new text, copy it FIRST, then select ALL text and paste rather than delete.

The template approach is easier. We use that method for our weekly bulletins and it's a simple matter of just filling in the new information. Of course if you have a newsletter which changes in matter length (more graphics, etc.) then what member chas_m proposed will be better.
