Help! Safari address window is gone.

The safari address window, i.e where you type a website address has disappeared.
i can now only visit pages in my bookmarks bar!!!!!

I have tried the View menu. The help menu seems to be no assistance.

right click (ctrl click) on the top book marks bar, and click on customize tool bar.. and then drag the address bar onto the tool bar to the location at whick you like it.
