Repeated Panic Attacks

Hello all,

As soon as I downloaded/upgraded my old Macbook Pro to Mavericks, I have been facing chronic Panic attacks from my laptop. As soon as it tried turning on it would immediately go to the panic message, and the error message. I tried following several other instructions on the forums such as reinstalling the entire thing, erasing the partition etc and none has worked so far. (I've also reinstalled OS X 10.6.8, so that is the current OS on the laptop) It seems like the panic attacks appear within a longer period of time rather than instantaneously. Here is the latest report I received:

Interval Since Last Panic Report: 13541 sec
Panics Since Last Report: 6

Additional Information/Defects: Service battery alert sign (It lasts lie 45 minutes before it reaches 2%)
Gets fairly heated quickly and has a really loud fan noise when this happens. I have removed a majority of the dust from the fans/inside the laptop that may have caused this. No other programs seem to be the cause of this, perhaps it's the hardware?

All in all, I think I may be dealing with some sort of hardware defective laptop - need some help on what to do! :'(

Kernel Panics are often caused by a hardware defect, but not always. You should be able to reasonably rule out a hardware defect by running the Apple Hardware Test. Instructions here:

Using Apple Hardware Test

However, with your fans spiking like they are, it makes me wonder whether you've got a third party kernel extension or application that starts with the computer and doesn't necessarily play well with Mavericks. One of the things you can do to try to counter this would be to run a tool like AppFresh to scan for and suggest updates to your software.

When you did your clean install, did you port all of your old data, applications and settings back in following the setup process?

Or did you literally do a clean install, with nothing on the machine other than the OS - and if so, did it Kernel Panic during that time?
