I need to copy photos from MAC to IPAD without using ITUNES. Just got IPAD AIR and ITUNES wants to set it up as a new device. Have already loaded a lot of stuff and do not want to lose it. Anyway, I am not in love with ITUNES. Any help will be much appreciated.

There may be independent apps out there that do what you want, but I'm not familiar with them because I use iTunes. It really is a simple way to backup your iPad and load/sync contacts and media, etc.

If your Mac is running Mavericks, you can wirelessly share photos with Air Drop. Or email them to yourself. Or instant message them to yourself using Messages/iMessage.

Have a look at PhotoSync it's an app for iOS/Mac/Windows. Lets you transfer wirelessly.
