Does the monitor screen look that when you open other applications? Because it appears to be a defect to the LCD.

That's what I was essentially asking. If you're getting that distortion and white blotches on a blank screen, it would appear to be the LCD that's defective. However, to be absolutely sure, attach an external monitor to the G5. If the external monitor is OK, you'll know positively that it's the G5 LCD.

The color of the background doesn't matter. That "stuff" is always there (physically)...regardless of the background color. Of course it shouldn't be there.

You can just see it better when the background is black.

These are only guess's...but to me it looks like:

- "Bubbles" of some sort due to heat.
- Some sort of solvent (alcohol) was used to clean the display...and it damaged the surface.
- Mold growth.

Just guess's.

@pigoo3 : Thank you Sir

Yeah, I think the monitor is over heating, so how to repair this display and what component should be replaced ?

Thanks

I'm not sure what sort of monitor it is (age, size, brand, etc.). But generally speaking...the average monitor probably isn't worth repairing. if you had to have a professional do it...the cost of the parts & labor would be sky-high (relative to it's used value).

I can pick up good inexpensive used monitors all day long via Craig's List. And brand new 22"-24" monitors can be purchased for $100-$150.

So unless this monitor is super special in some way...it's probably not worth repairing. Just one of those things where the economics of repairing (in many cases) just doesn't make good financial sense.

p.s. Of course you can always just keep using it if the blemishes aren't really a big issue.:)
