transfer ibooks on imac to iPad with mavericks

I have epub books on iMac and want to transfer ti iPad. The books are in ibooks on Mavericks and not in iTunes. How do I get them to iTunes?

You don't.
Just check the option in iTunes when you sync your iPad to sync books, and it will pull them from iBooks.

I've never heard of iBooks. I live in a cave. ;) Just upgraded to Snow Leopard.
