maybe its just the Linux / Windows (dont panic! dont panic!) but Maverics
and anything past Tiger is a 64-bit OS
so has anyone ever tried to install more RAM inside their MacBook Pro?
like 8GB or maybe something as sweet as 16GB?

Several of our members have 8 GB or more of ram in their MacBook Pros. How well it works depends heavily on which Mac you have and your pattern of use. Light net surfing and e-mail will be fine on less than 8 GB (especially if you open one or two programs at a time). Serious video or photo work can easily take. more.

In order to figure out whats best for your situation we need more info about your Mac and how you use it. Even the apps in question can affect things. Some developers were slower than others making the transition to 64 bit addressing.

I know that it's New Year's and all...but maybe you should lay off the "sauce" before posting!;)

p.s. FYI...there are many MacBook Pro models capable of 16gig of ram.

i have Logic Pro X on my Mac and i dont know how well it deals with large orchestral compositions
if i could get a very large orchestra together in Logic Pro X it would be really cool
but im concerned about its usage

a little bit of a back story on this
my sister-in-law tried to drown her MacBook Pro
she accidentally dumped a large mouth water bottle on the keyboard
so long story short she (and my brother) sold it to me for $200
so im making the best of it

first of all i dont drink
so there was no 'sauce' involved
im just a Mac noob
and i dont see Apple making drivers for much of anything besides what they use in their machines
and i wasnt very sure on what the motherboard would be able to address either

Someone reading your initial post (which was made 18 minutes after midnight on New Year's)...could come to the same conclusion I did. ;)

Your post was:

- All over the place (random statements).
- No capitalization...no periods...no sentence structure (very random). Yes these things can be important when posting on internet forums.
- The thread title is totally confusing ("MacBook Pro Taboo...").
- Your username ("disturbed13")...doesn't necessarily give someone much creditability either.;)

Also. Macintosh laptops have been capable of 8gig of ram since 2008 (5+ years ago)...and have been capable of 16gig of ram since 2011 (2+ years ago). This is kind of "old history" for Mac's.

Happy New Year,:)

- Nick

p.s. And you still haven't told us what exact Mac computer model you have...so we can answer your ram question ("MacBook Pro" isn't enough). There have been probably 75 different MacBook Pro models since 2006.

That appears to be a fairly newer model MacBook Pro....and certainly a pretty useful unit. If I got it identified correctly...it's a "Mid-2012" model...and is definitely capable of 16gig of ram max.:)

I believe Nick is correct. Nice machine! With Mavericks I would go to 8GB RAM at least.

well here is why: (this pc idea is a bit old)
i7 3770K CPU
16 GB of RAM
Radeon 7870 GPU
a RAID 5 array with 4 80GB SSDs for the OS (windows sadly)
a RAID 5 array with 4 256GB SSDs for Game files and game saves
a RAID 5 array with 4 256GB SSDs for application install files only
a RAID 5 array with 4 750GB HDDs for system storage
a 850W PSU
and a 450W GPU PSU bay device to keep the work load low-ish on the PSU

and thats why im disturbed 0.o
mind boggling aint it?

You don't anticipate that the MBP will perform better than the rig listed, do you?
