Heres the order of events:

- computer goes black while using it
- after five or so seconds some part of the hard drive makes a weird vrrrrrr vrrrrrrrrr sound
- grey screen with the apple symbol appears
- screen that says "your computer restarted because of a problem. Please wait a few seconds or click any button to continue"
- goes to the log in page
- opens all of the pages previously opened but all unsaved data is lost
- sign that says "your computer restarted because of a problem. Ignore or report"

It usually crashes in the first five minutes of waking up the computer and then doesnt do it again until i wake it up again

WHAT IS THIS

The computer is a macbook pro 17" 2011 OS x Lion

Your post does not have enough information so we can try to assist you.

Which MacBook Pro do you have, year and model?
What version of OS X is it running?

Try to attach a copy of the KP report or crash log to your post so we can have a look at it.

If running Snow Leopard OS X.6, or earlier, boot from your DVD and run Repair Disk and advise what is reported. If later, when running go into Recovery mode and do the same thing.

@chscag I updated the info. How do I attach a copy of the KP report?

@ harrb2448 I assume the repair disk is a program cd. I dont have this or anything else. I bought the computer on ebay. (before I criticized it has worked fine for a year)

Thanks guys!
