Is there a list that shows the proper order of things to do with a new rMBP. Nothing on it other than what came from the factory. This is my first Macbook and I'm Windows savvy but know next to nothing about OS X

Hi Bugzie - welcome to the forum! Check out this recent Recent THREAD about migrating from a PC to Apple computers.

Just for starters: 1) You'll need to transfer your personal files (music/pics/docs/etc.) to your MBPro; 2) Check Amazon & iBooks for books on OS X (Mavericks now) & Mac Book computers - many are free or inexpensive - reviews will help you make a decision on obtaining a few; 3) Visit the MAS (Mac App Store) to determine which additional software to add (e.g. the iWork Suite is a recommendation); and 4) Obtain an external HD (1 TB ones are < $100) and setup Time Machine which is a backup program built into the Apple OS. Others will likely 'chime in' w/ additional comments. Good luck - Dave :)

Welcome to Mac-Forums..

There really isn't a standard list of things that you need to do, it all depends on what you normally do with your computer.

If you have specific needs and are searching for an app, we can help there..

The other thing you might want to do is visit our Switchers Hangout forum and take a look at the posts there from others like yourself who are switching to a Mac from Windows or Linux..
