I'm a little confused about the free iLife apps that are supposed to accompany Mavericks. I've just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and have iDVD, and the 09 versions of iPhoto and iMovie on my computer together with the free current version of GarageBand - in passing can I just simply delete the folder with GarageBand 5.1 that's appeared in Applications?

Okay, if I were to buy iLife 11 second hand, first of all will it allow me to choose which Apps to update i.e, iPhoto & iMovie? I don't want to replace GarageBand with the older version.

Second, having upgraded to iLife 11, can I then download the new versions of iPhoto and iMovie for free?

Many thanks.

The iWork and iLife apps are free when you buy a new Mac. I'm not sure about the iLife upgrades though since I only use iPhoto. Someone else may be able to respond better.
