Questions i have hopefully someone will know the answer.

Q1. Current OSX 10.7.5 will it be ok to pop the Hard Drive from the Mac Pro 1,1 into the 3,1 and still work ??

Q2. If all goes well with Q1 the Raid 5 i have if i put everything as in the 1,1 in to the 3,1 do you think the Raid will be ok.

Q3. If all goes well with Q1 & Q2 I want to upgrade to 10.9 from 10.7.5 in which i know this machine is capable would an up grade work or should i start fresh

I know silly questions but hopefully while I'm out to collect the new machine one of you guys will be able to help

Since you are migrating machines, the installation of OS X from the 1,1 might have issues getting everything to work on the 3,1. I would think it would be better to do the 10.9 installation on the 3,1 HD (a clean install to start you off right) since you are planning on moving to 10.9 anyway.

With that out of the way, you can plug in your HD from the 1,1 to copy over any relevant data/application..

As far as the RAID is concerned, if that's entirely self-contained (outside of the OS), the moving it over to the 3,1 should be completely fine..

All Good So Far

Well 3,1 is sitting in the old 1,1 space behind the TV and working with OSX 10.7.5 no glitches.

Raid in Tact nothing wrong there.

Now the big one installing 10.9 fresh install on seperate drive via USB then if all is ok will back up to time machine then transfer on to the internal drive or just swap drives.

10 Mins to go wish me luck i'll report back and let you know how it went

Regards

Adam
