i have a white macbook. i have another thread about windows xp but i got a windows 8.1 preview on a disc. I thought, heck, why not, i have the iso running in a virtual machine but it is just way too slow, is it possible to run it in boot camp, I'm sure there is some work around

Think the problem is the MacBook is showing its age. Remember that model originally came out with Tiger OS X.4.

The Windows 8.1 Preview has either expired or due to expire soon, so why even bother trying to get it to run on an older MacBook? I wouldn't attempt to run any other version of Windows on that machine except XP, and for that you will need to update to at least Leopard or Snow Leopard.
