I have an IMac 2.4 GHz Intel core 2 duo upgraded from Snow Leopard to Maverick. All ok except now when in sleep mode now there is a repeating noise much like the sound of rebooting from sleep when you bring the CPU back up. This noise recurs over and over day and night. Does anyone know a solution.
Thank you, Terry

The noise could be related to your optical drive or even the hard drive. I recommend verifying your hard drive and make a backup of your data as soon as possible. To verify the hard drive, boot to the recovery partition and select Utilities. From there, select Disk Utility. Highlight your Macintosh HD on the left side and select verify from the right side.

Boot to recovery by pressing and holding the command and r keys during reboot.
