I've been unable to add my Officejet 8000 since upgrading my MacBook Pro to Maverick. Is there a workaround?

Did you check with HP to see if they have updated drivers for your 8000 Pro? I went to the HP site and found a driver update. Here is the LINK to download the driver update. Install it and you should be able to use your 8000 again.
