How do I get old Sony home video, already transfered to DVD, onto iMovie?
Thanks

Use Handbrake: HandBrake: Downloads
Choose the mp4 option for the converted file, then you can import it into iMovie.

Thanks for the help. I downloaded Handbrake and it wants to put my videos in a document file which can't be read or moved by/to iMovie. But I'm working on it.

It should be either an MKV or an mp4 video file.

With the DVD in the drive, open Handbrake and select the DVD(not the audio/video TS folders) and click Open:

Select the Save destination and choose mp4 from the Format option, and click start, and you should end up with the mp4 file.
