I keep receiving kernel errors.

I am using a mid-2010 15-inch Macbook Pro. I am using the most updated version of OS X Mavericks.

I don't get them often when just browsing the internet or playing games, but the problem comes when I open any of the office programs such as Word or Powerpoint.

I haven't changed any hardware around, I just use the mac and a normal mouse for browsing. Some times I plugin my external hard-drive, but apart from that I don't do anything out of the ordinary.

This is a real problem

Check with Apple support regarding the Graphics Panic errors you're receiving. If I'm remembering correctly, there is an extended free repair period for the 2010 MacBook Pro machines that use a certain nVidia GPU such as yours. Apple will likely require you to bring or send the machine to a service center (Apple store or authorized Apple service center) so they can run diagnostics. If it turns out yours is one with the defective nVidia chipset, Apple will replace the logic board for free.
