Hey everyone, I've run into an issue with my used-to-be trusty iphone 4 as it will no longer sync to itunes.

Everytime I connect the phone with my MBP the message "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not allocate a resource." pops up. I've followed the instructions outlined in this blog post: silverthorn: iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not allocate a resource. , but to no avail. I've also gone into disk utility and repaired disk permissions, and reset the PRAM, but again without success.

I'm pretty much lost on where to go next, any other ideas would be appreciated!

cheers

I thought I would mention I tried syncing my wife's iPhone as well, and got the same message. It seems like it is definitely something with iTunes, not the phones. Also, FYI, I have the current version of iTunes, and running Mavericks OSX.

Any other ideas? Its brutal not being able to sync my phone!

Apparently there are a whole bunch of things that could cause this - some having to do with 3rd party apps that have been installed.

I'd probably start with these:

Reboot the computer while the iPhone is connected.

Repair pemissions.

After those, would do a google search and just start going through all the different threads with the different things people have found to fix their own machines.

A simple reinstallation of iTunes seemed to have fix the problem. Can't believe I didn't think of that before!

cheers
