Assuming you mean Notifications go to System Preferences, Notifications and change Mail to 'None' where the banners are.
Or do you mean Mail is starting up on login?

Your Mail program may be starting up automatically when you turn on your Mac. Open System Preferences, Users & Groups. If you see your Mail program in the Startup items box, click on the small lock at the bottom and enter your password. The lock will open and then you can remove Mail by pressing the minus (-) button. Also check the Mail icon in your Dock to make sure it's not set to open at login. (use right click to check)
