My iMac 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 goes to sleep even though sleep is set to never. The screen is set to turn off after 10 minutes, but this is the only energy setting currently on. Blue tooth keyboard, mouse or track pad will not wake it. It also ignores when the power button is pressed. A hard reset must be performed.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Try resetting the System Management Controller (SMC). Do the following:

Power off your iMac, remove the AC plug from the receptacle, leave it shut down for 10 to 15 minutes. Power it back on and check to see if things are working normally. If that didn't work, you can try a NVRAM reset. See the following Apple KB article: LINK
