Just got an Apple TV.
I am connecting it to an older, rear-projection, HD capable TV set.
The HD input is HDMI (19-pin rectangular plug)
I am using a DVI-D to HDMI 6-foot cable.
Apple TV fires up and displays menus etc.
Problem is that every 2 seconds or so there seem to be a spike that throws off the display, causing it to flicker and then re-stabilize.
Any suggestions, other than to replace the TV set?
Thanks in advance for any helpful input.

Have you re-calibrated for screen size and refresh rate. Also cables can be damaged too.

The cable is brand new but I will check.

Where and how do I re-calibrate for screen size and refresh rate?
Do I calibrate the AppleTV or my old TV?
I set the AppleTV to 720-60Hz and RGB High
This is supported by the TV
The TV features 4 fixed sizes. Adjustment not available.

I just ran a software update. Now the screen is black and I cannot access the AppleTV menu anymore.
I think I'll return the thingy and keep downloading movies from the web, using the computer.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
