• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi guys, no idea if this is the right forum - so feel free to move it mods.

We've just bought a boat. I have a powerbook, and instead of buying a seperate tv for the boat - I'd like to use my powerbook to watch tv on. I've had a look on Elgato's website regarding their EyeTV system. But to be honest I have no idea about tv's/ariels etc.

Does anyone have a similar set-up? What kind of ariel would I have - or could I get digital - do I need cables. Can it be done?

Sorry to sound so vague - but I honestly have no idea about stuff like this - I don't even know how it works in our house!!!

Eer thats the point of my post - I don't want to use a tv (there's little room on a boat as it is - hence why I'd like to use my laptop!! And I"m in the UK.

I think I may have figured it out (with help of other half), I think this is what I need (EyeTV for Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT)) - can anyone verify or use it themselves: http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObj...N3vrHXNf1tTu4FRg/1.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.5.1#rev

i think you need a satilite provider on your boat.. then hook the satilite up to a EveTV to your pb.
