I have just updated my iOS on my iPhone 5 and my iPad 4 to 7.0.4.

No change in anything with the iPhone; but the iPad has now been given a dreadful tone/sound when you lock it an equally ghastly tone/sound when I enter my pass number - ie the Lock Sound & Keyboard Click Sounds have changed.

Is there a way of returning these two specific sounds to their original state?

As I mentioned, this has only affected the iPad, not my iPhone?!

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Not sure about reverting, but you can turn off.

Thank you "newscribe" for your quick and thoughtful response.

Yes indeed, I can turn them off; but really, it would be so nice if I could replace them with the original sounds — or indeed with anything else!

Frustrating that one can change all the other sounds, but maybe not these two?

Still very grateful to you.

Hi Ian,

Can one change the Lock Sounds and Keyboard Clicks Sound?

This is possible, but you would need iExplorer and audio software.
If you go ahead with this, and to help you once you have opened iExplorer plugged the iPad in you should find the files you are looking for on the iPad here.

Route > system Library>Audio>UI sounds and there names are unlock.caf and lock.caf.

Wow. Great reply. Needs some thought though as I'm not that IT savvy.

I shall investigate. And, once again, many thanks for taking time out to help me.

Hey! I just fixed the problem on my ipad. I just turned it off then turned it back on. Everything went back to normal.

Can one change the lock sound

Just to clarify. By turning off I meant to power down your ipad, not just sliding buttons to on off positions.

Great idea Clifford.

I had to switch mine off and then on twice, but then it reverted to the original sounds!

Thank you so much. All the more so because the "official" Apple position via their online support is that Lock & Keyboard sounds cannot be changed!

The other thing I've learnt is that not everybody was affected. Indeed, there was no change with my iPhone 5, only my iPad.

And now, thanks to Clifford (and you also, newscribe) all is well. I'm chuffed.

Further update.

On the basis of the above, my wife has just updated her iPad Air to 7.0.4 and the Lock & Keyboard sounds were NOT affected.
