Hi Not sure if it is just my mac...but after upgrading to maverick, downloading a say 6G file now takes hours and hours....when before I was using SL or ML, it used to take 2 hours tops. What is happening? Are others having the same problem??

You could try looking at the monitor app to see if any other apps are hogging more cpu and ram usage.

Mavericks should have nothing to do with your download speed if you're still using the same ISP, modem, router, etc. There may be something else going on and it's coincidental that you're downloading more slowly. Try monitoring the activity monitor as previously suggested.
