I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. But if you post the following info we might be able to help:
1. Which Mac do you have?
2. Which version of OSX did you have?
3. Which version of OSX do you have now?
4. Is the Seagate HD an external drive?
5. Is the seagate drive a 2.5" USB powered drive or a 3.5" desktop class externally powered device?
6. Did the drive work ok on your previous version of OSX?
7. Can you see the drive in Disk Utility?
8. Which file system is the drive formatted with?

Thank you. OS 10.8.5, and the Seagate drive is an external USB device, normally connected to the Go Flex HDTV device. I found that if I showed my Macbook air in finder, the disk can be seen connected to the laptop. So I think the problem is solved for now. Thank you.
