Hello I've been trying to buy a Late 2009 iMac off someone and its been built to Custom order and I was wanting to know if its still worth buying. What I'm mostly wanting to know is how long do you think Apple will make OS X still on it. Also would it be good for Video Editing?

Here is the specs for the iMac

2.8 Ghz Quadcore i7
8GB Ram
4850 HD Radeon GPU
1 TB HDD New as Spring 2013

Depends what the asking price is. Returns a very respectable Geekbench score of over 8,000. Who knows what Apple will do in the future but it will certainly run Mavericks and with more memory, say maxed out to 16GB will be fine for video editing.

All gets down to price which you have not shared.

If this iMac is posted on Craig's List. There are a lot of "phishing" scams going on at the moment on CL. If something is selling for a "to good to be true price"...and the seller wants you to reply via gmail or yahoo...it's probably a phishing scam.

Just mentioning that in case this computer is posted on CL. $850 for a 27" iMac with a quad-core i7 in most situations...is a "to good to be true price"

Nick might be onto something. Mac2sell which we often use here to get the worth of a used Mac says 1,520 $!!! Either the person is very generous, Nuts, or it's a Scan. Is this someone you know or Craigslist?

If this is someone you know and not a scam and it all works, that is an Amazing deal.

As others ask where is it being offered for sale at and is it the 27" model? That price would be reasonable for a 21" model but cheap for a 27". Also is this at an auction site as it may well go much higher?

Here is a 2.8GHz i7 same model for $1400 to give you some idea:-

Agreed. If this computer is being sold by a person, friend, relative, or coworker that the OP knows...then it's a terrific deal!:)
